CRM software is vital for medium-sized and large business, but what about for small businesses? What about solopreneurs? Actually, there are quite a few reasons that you should have a CRM solution, and there are some great options out there.
Before I dive into the nitty-gritty, functional side of why solopreneurs need a CRM app, I want to give you what I think is the biggest reason: Integrating your business with a CRM tool will take you to a new level of professionalism, organization, dedication, and vision.
Too many solopreneurs see what they do as a hobby with a happy ending – a paid-in-full invoice. They need to think in bigger terms and start laying the groundwork for systemizing what they do so they can have other people do it. You can start thinking about scaling when you capture what you do within a CRM system.
With that said, the next question is: What, in practical terms, can you accomplish with this software?
Time Management. As a solopreneur, you have a lot of things clamoring for your time, and you need to ensure that you’re maximizing billable hours while minimizing downtime. CRM software can help you do just that. You can track deals at every step in the sales process, see what you need to accomplish, set priorities and more.
Track and Manage Customers. One of the most important things for any business owner is being able to track and manage current, new, and past customers. With the right CRM tool, you can keep up with your current customers, tap into new ones, and entice old ones back into the fold without spending a ton of time doing it.
Track Performance. With a good CRM tool, you can track quotes you’ve issued, sales you’ve made, contacts you’ve reached and more, building an accurate picture of your business’ performance and then adjusting on the fly.
Obviously, having a CRM tool on your side is important, but which one should you choose? There are many platforms out there competing for your business, and they’re not created equal. We’ll cover some of the better ones and start with free options.
HubSpot. HubSpot’s CRM platform is rated as one of the best in the industry, and provides powerful automation, interaction tracking, and is simple enough to learn in a very short time so you’re up and running quickly. The fact that it is free to use is a definite bonus. (And in case you don’t know, Hubspot offers a lot more for your budding business and if you’re interested, check out this Hubspot review by Marcus Sheridan over on The Sales Lion; he’s a major proponent of the system.)
Insightly. This one has been around for quite a while and has built a reputation as a solid management tool for opportunities, contacts, and more. Insightly also integrates with your email client and can help manage your social networks, too. Oh, and it’s also free.
Streak. Built to be added to Gmail, Streak is a streamlined, simplified CRM tool that nevertheless offers some pretty powerful capabilities. And, because it integrates directly with your Gmail account, the process is seamless and familiar. It offers a basic free level.
Pipedrive. Built by sales pros for startups, Pipedrive is a new solopreneur CRM tool that’s already been adopted by more than 10,000 customers around the world. It is feature rich and delivers intuitive controls. Pricing starts at $10 per month per user.
Whether you choose HubSpot, Insightly, Streak, Pipedrive or something else, it’s imperative that you have a CRM tool that helps you build and grow your business.
